                                             Ready Set Go ! Bang & They are off ....

 This was Frances 1st school sport and we are so Proud of her, she has been working out very hard at school and at home. I wasn't able to see her before the race, so I had to settle for taking pictures after the race and while she came around. Congratulations to all the runners today , but especially to my little girl.
    She is extremely tired and sore she ran her little heart out today and we are Very Proud of HER !

  Well it's been about 6 weeks since school started for us here in TX. and its picture time. I do hate the regular standard pose they do at school. So since I love taking pictures I do my girls pictures and I Love that they are unique and fit their personalities. So today I headed out to one of my favorite stores and went shopping... Yup I love shopping for them and I'm lucky that my girls will wear what I buy them. So stay tune for these years new shots. I hope you like them... Stay tuned for their new one's ...

 Here is a Big Sister and her Little Brother S & S , as you can see they are simply gorgeous children. Although mom wishes they stay little forever, well we mom's know it that they simply grow up to fast on us. For me as a mom and photographer and as a Good Friend of this family I enjoy taking this pictures and freezing those moments that make us say Aaawww !!  I've had the pleasure and honor of photographing this siblings together before, and I simply LOVE them, they are so much FUN.

Even though they are our rivals, for today we had to cheer for them today and they played a heck of a game.

                Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?

The digital revolution has brought amazing flexibility and ability to control various factors during the image taking and making process.  Photographers, the hobbyist, the professional, the amateur all benefit from this ability to manipulate pixels.  However, with flexibility comes a price.  Digital camera equipment is still considerably more expensive when you factor in its' lifespan, the need for additional resources for processing those images, the time it takes to get a usable image and the effort that goes into creating a work of photographic art. We all know that you can go to the local Walgreen's and pay a $1.99 for a print – as a client you may wonder why you may pay upwards of $50, $70, $90 for a custom photography print.   Photographers hear this statement every once in awhile:

"How in the world can you charge $60 for an 8×10 if it costs me less than $2 to print at x store?"

The truth of the matter is the answer to this question is multifaceted.  Much of the cost of a photographic print produced by a professional photographer has a lot to do with the time,  equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business. The cost of TIME Approaching it from a time standpoint, let's imagine that you have hired a photographer who has work that you love.  This photographer is traveling an hour to your destination to photograph your session.  Here is an example of a time break down:

• booking time: 30 minutes to one hour (client contact time + paperwork)
• pre-session prep time (30 mins – 1 hour, includes equipment and back up equipment checks + vehicle checks)
•  up to one hour travel time TO session
• 15-30 minutes prep time at client's home
• 90 minutes-2 hours with client photographing subject
• up to one hour travel time FROM session
• 30-45 minutes uploading time from digital cards from camera to computer
• 30-45 minutes time spent backing up the original images
• 2-5 hours editing time to present you with a diverse gallery of edited images
• 1 hour prep time getting ready for ordering
• 2-3 hours time with client for ordering images
• 1 hour sorting through and checking order
• 30 minutes-1 hour prep time for delivery
• 30 minutes-1 hour getting order shipped
• any additional phone time or time needed for add on ordering, shipment issues, quality issues

In this example, the time spent per client can range from just under 13 hours to 19 hours – dependent on the photographer's level of service.  This is time dedicated only to ONE session.  When the photographer charges $150-$300 for the photo shoot (aka SESSION FEE) you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for 12-19 hours complete time for your session.

Just something for you all to think about since we are approaching the Holiday Seasons

 Since we moved to TX I have met lots of wonderful people, but none have made quite that connection like my friend , my neighbor Jeannie. I think we get along so well , because we are both crazy, funny, loving and the most important people in our life's are our families. We share lots of interest in life and we both Love the same author Nora Roberts. She is someone that when I need to vent I know I can count on her. If I need help I know she will be there for me. Some of us have true friends in our life's , not acquaintances but friends. I have left a few friends behind due to they are in California , but even though they are far it doesn't break the friendship that we have. I feel very special to have friends like them and I am so glad that I have some here as well. I want to say thank you to my PIC for always being there for me and my family. I am extremely humbled to be your friend your partner in crime. I also want to say thank you for letting me borrow your family so they can be models for me... LOL ... I hope you like the photos ...

New Life , New Style (My Life)

                                        New life , new style , new lifestyle ....

  My new lifestyle started a few months ago when one day trying on a pair of jeans I couldn't zip them up. I was very close to tears. During the time since I moved to TX and really not doing much when the girls where in school I started to gain weight a little bit at a time. After a little bit of more than two years of being here I saw that I had gained almost 40 lbs and I was so shocked ! I couldn't believe it and was very depressed I was not happy with myself. I think we reach a point in our life's when we let ourselves go and really don't think about it. Well I was determined to make changes and loose the weight. I tried for almost two months without no results and I felt like I was starving myself.  Talking to my PIC (Partner in Crime) she was also doing something about her weight, but had seen a Dr. about it. So I took his information down and about 1 month later I was there. Well its been hard and a struggle especially for my family but they have stood by me and well we are now a healthier family.We have cut down on the snacks we bought and started to watch the calorie intake and proportions of food we were serving ourselves. Mike has lost 40 lbs and I'm very proud of him (by the way he has done it without the help of my Dr.). Its been hard on the girls but they have been really good and they too have dropped a few pounds and can see the changes in their bodies and it makes them feel good. The girls are exercising and watching what junk food they eat not an easy task when you are a teenager. I have to say that working out with the girls feels good and I spend time with my girls and I'm glad that they are taking care of our bodies together and are doing this as a family.
 It feels extremely good to look in the mirror and see someone I like. Well I figured since we have a new way of life style how about a new style for me ... So yesterday we all had appointments for new cuts and I decided to do something that well even shocked the girls and Mike and I have to say even myself.
 Yup as you can see I chopped my hair off, and I love it . Mike and the girls were so shocked he didn't say anything just look and say that's short ! He loved my long hair but with my hands for those who don't know (I have carpal tunnel) its too much to deal. I have to say that I feel good but will continue to take care of myself and I hope for those out there who want to change, all I can say is "Go For it " You can do it, I won't lie and say its easy but when you reach a goal and start to see the changes all I can say is "I did it and every time I smiled " and it motivated me to keep going. I hope you are all having a great labor day weekend. To our health and our families...

School's In (My Life as a Mom)

School is in 2010 

Well I can't believe summer went and passed and now is back to school. I know I'm a little late since they are well into their 2nd week of school ! Yeah I know where does the time fly ? Well as I sit and plan what we are going to be doing this year for our family pictures, I sit and think wow " The girls are so grown up on us ". What can we do this year , clothes style and indoor or outdoor ? Well that's going to be a big surprise .. lol .. Stay tune for we have lots of new stuff coming up ... Halloween, birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New school pictures of the girls...
